Website traffic, reader activity, and transparent usage reporting

Intellect: Indonesian Journal of Learning and Technological Innovation (e-ISSN 2962-9233), published by Yayasan Lembaga Studi Makwa (Makwa Foundation), provides access to available website traffic information to support transparency about the journal's online reach and use.

This page explains the journal's publicly linked analytics services, the meaning of commonly reported metrics, and the distinction between website visits and article-level usage. All usage figures should be interpreted in relation to their data source and reporting period.

1. Public Sources of Website Traffic Information

The following services are linked from the journal's existing visitor-statistics resources. Readers can consult the provider's current public information using the links below.

StatCounter — Website Traffic Summary

StatCounter provides website-level analytics, including page views, sessions, and visitor estimates for selectable reporting periods. Figures shown in its public dashboard are maintained by the service and may change as new traffic is recorded or the selected date range changes.

Flag Counter — Visitor Country Information

The journal also links to a country-based visitor counter. Where accessible, this service provides an additional indication of the geographic distribution of visits. Its counting methods and coverage may differ from those used by StatCounter.

How to read these sources

StatCounter and Flag Counter are independent third-party services. Their totals must not be added together, assumed to cover identical periods, or treated as interchangeable measures of unique readers.

2. Definitions of Common Website Metrics

  • Page views: The number of times tracked website pages are loaded or viewed. Repeated visits to a page may generate additional page views.
  • Sessions: Recorded visits during which a user browses one or more pages. A visitor may initiate several sessions within the reporting period.
  • Visitors: An estimate of distinct visitors within a selected period, based on the analytics provider's identification method. This is not an exact count of individual people.
  • New and returning visitors: Classifications based on provider-specific recognition methods and the selected reporting period.
  • Geographic distribution: An approximate indication of where website visits originate. It does not establish readers' nationality, institutional affiliation, or authorship.

3. Article-Level Views and Full-Text Downloads

The journal uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) to publish article landing pages and full-text files. OJS provides tools for recording and reporting article-level usage when the relevant statistics processes and settings are operational.

Article or Abstract Views

The number of recorded views of an article's landing page, which presents bibliographic information, an abstract, and links to available files. This metric is distinct from general website page views.

Full-Text File Views or Downloads

The number of recorded accesses to a particular published file, such as a PDF galley. These counts should not be interpreted as unique readers, citations, or verified uses of the research.

Article-level statistics are not presented here as verified totals because the availability and completeness of publicly displayed OJS usage data for Intellect have not yet been established. Where supported, the Editorial Office may publish validated aggregate article-usage reports in the future.

4. Reporting Periods and Data Limitations

Website analytics should always be evaluated using the date range and measurement method indicated by the source. Public dashboard values may update over time, while access to historical or detailed logs may depend on the analytics provider's settings and subscription terms.

  • Different coverage: Website analytics measure activity on pages where the relevant tracking method is active, whereas OJS usage metrics focus on article landing pages and publication files.
  • Measurement limitations: Browser settings, blocked tracking tools, automated traffic, repeat visits, and provider-specific filters can affect reported counts.
  • Data availability: Historical figures cannot be assumed to exist for periods before the tracking system was installed or for intervals when data collection was interrupted.
  • Comparability: Figures from different services or periods should not be directly compared without checking their definitions, filters, and observation windows.

5. Privacy and Responsible Reporting

The journal supports the responsible use of analytics for understanding readership patterns and improving access to scholarly publications. The purpose of this page is to provide aggregate usage information and links to public summaries, rather than to display identifiable records of individual visitors.

Visitor information made available by third-party analytics services is governed by their respective technical settings and privacy arrangements. The publisher is responsible for reviewing public-sharing permissions and ensuring that analytics disclosures are consistent with applicable privacy requirements and the journal's Privacy Statement.

The journal does not use visit counts, country rankings, or download totals as criteria for manuscript acceptance, peer-review recommendations, or editorial decisions.

6. Interpretation of Reach and Scholarly Impact

Visitor statistics provide contextual evidence of online access and potential readership. They do not, by themselves, establish the scientific quality, academic influence, citation impact, originality, or indexing status of the journal or its articles.

Information about journal accreditation and abstracting services should be consulted on the journal's Indexing and Abstracting policy page once published. Article metadata and full text remain available through the Journal Archives.

7. Maintenance, Transparency, and Inquiries

The Editorial Office and publisher are responsible for reviewing the accuracy of public statistical links, the clarity of displayed definitions, and the availability of any usage data published by the journal. If a provider changes its reporting interface or counting methodology, the information on this page may be updated accordingly.

Questions about the interpretation or availability of journal statistics may be directed through the official Contact page.
