Scholarly integrity & open access
A transparent and consistent publication calendar supporting rigorous peer review, editorial integrity, and the timely dissemination of research in Islamic economics and finance.
JOVISHE: Journal of Visionary Sharia Economy is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by Yayasan Lembaga Studi Makwa (Makwa Foundation), Indonesia. The journal maintains a regular publication schedule to ensure the consistent and responsible dissemination of original scholarship in Islamic economics, Islamic finance, ethical business, and related fields.
JOVISHE is published biannually, with two regular issues per calendar year, in June and December. Each annual volume comprises two consecutively numbered issues: Issue 1 (June) and Issue 2 (December). This publication frequency reflects the journal's established issue structure and its commitment to a predictable scholarly publishing cycle.
The journal's annual publication calendar is organized as follows:
| Regular Issue | Issue Period | Scheduled Publication Month |
|---|---|---|
| Volume [Year], No. 1 | January–June | June |
| Volume [Year], No. 2 | July–December | December |
The issue periods indicate the journal's regular editorial publication cycle. They do not require every submission, review, revision, or acceptance to occur within the same six-month period. Manuscripts may progress through editorial stages across different issue periods, provided that all recorded dates accurately reflect the actual editorial process.
The journal accepts manuscript submissions throughout the year through its online journal management system. Submission does not constitute acceptance, nor does it guarantee inclusion in a particular issue. Authors are expected to consult the journal's Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines before submitting their manuscripts.
Each submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment for its relevance to the journal, originality, scholarly significance, methodological soundness, compliance with manuscript preparation requirements, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be declined before external peer review.
Submissions that pass editorial screening are evaluated through the journal's double-anonymous peer-review process, ordinarily involving at least two qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript. Additional review or further revisions may be requested when necessary to support a well-founded editorial decision.
The duration of the review and editorial process varies according to reviewer availability, the complexity of the research, the extent of revisions, and the time required for authors to respond. Any indicative review timeframe published elsewhere by the journal should be interpreted as an estimate rather than a guarantee of acceptance or publication. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit and the outcome of the journal's established evaluation procedures.
Only manuscripts that have satisfactorily completed the required editorial and peer-review stages are eligible for acceptance and scheduling. Accepted articles are assigned to an appropriate forthcoming issue according to editorial readiness, acceptance order, production capacity, thematic coherence where applicable, and the journal's established publication calendar.
The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board where appropriate, retains responsibility for the final editorial decision and issue assignment. Acceptance of an article does not automatically establish a right to publication in the nearest issue. Where editorial or production requirements remain outstanding, an accepted manuscript may be assigned to a subsequent issue, with the author informed accordingly.
JOVISHE is committed to maintaining its stated publishing frequency and to presenting an accurate, auditable scholarly record. The designated issue month is distinct from the actual online publication date of an article or issue. If an issue or article is made publicly available before or after its scheduled publication month, its actual release date must be recorded accurately in the journal's publishing system and associated metadata.
Dates relating to manuscript receipt, revision, peer review, acceptance, and publication must represent events as they actually occurred. Editorial records must not be backdated, altered to create an artificial chronology, or adjusted solely to align with an issue's nominal publication period. Where publication is delayed by exceptional circumstances, the journal will communicate material changes to its publication schedule through its official website when appropriate.
Any correction, update, or post-publication notice affecting the scholarly record will be handled transparently in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and applicable guidance on responsible scholarly publishing.
All published issues are made accessible through the journal's open-access publishing platform. Readers and prospective authors may consult the journal's official archives to review its publication history, article contents, and issue information. Bibliographic details and publication metadata are provided through the journal's official article and issue records.
