Institutional accountability, independent editorial judgment, and transparent scholarly publishing.
Journal of Visionary Sharia Economy (JOVISHE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by Yayasan Lembaga Studi Makwa (Makwa Foundation), Indonesia. The journal disseminates research in Islamic economics, Islamic finance, ethical business, and related areas of sustainable and inclusive economic development.
Yayasan Lembaga Studi Makwa (Makwa Foundation) serves as the institutional publisher of JOVISHE and is responsible for its organizational administration, publishing infrastructure, and continuity of operations. The Foundation provides the institutional and technical support necessary to maintain the journal's online publication platform, editorial administration, production processes, and public access to published scholarly content.
The publisher's role is distinct from the independent scholarly assessment of manuscripts. Institutional support, sponsorship arrangements, or other administrative interests do not confer authority to influence peer-review reports or determine the acceptance or rejection of individual submissions. The institutional affiliations of editors and reviewers identify their professional appointments and do not, in themselves, imply ownership or co-publication by those institutions.
JOVISHE operates through a defined allocation of responsibilities among its publisher, Editor-in-Chief, Journal Manager, and Editorial Board. These roles support editorial accountability, appropriate oversight, and transparent decision-making.
Editorial decisions are made on the basis of a submission's scholarly relevance, originality, methodological rigor, clarity of argument, contribution to the field, and adherence to research and publication ethics. Decisions must remain independent of the publisher's commercial, institutional, or personal interests and of any author's affiliation, reputation, or financial circumstances.
Manuscripts proceeding to external assessment are evaluated under the journal's stated double-anonymous peer-review procedure, normally involving at least two appropriately qualified reviewers. Reviewer reports inform editorial judgments but do not replace the Editor-in-Chief's responsibility for the final decision. Editors, reviewers, and other participants in the process are expected to preserve confidentiality and disclose relevant conflicts of interest. Submissions involving an editor or a person with a close professional or personal relationship to an editor must be assigned to a suitably qualified, non-conflicted decision-maker.
The publisher supports the administration of JOVISHE's online submission and editorial platform, the preparation and dissemination of accepted articles, maintenance of publication records, and the journal's open-access delivery. Any applicable author charges, payment conditions, exemptions, or optional services must be disclosed accurately and consistently in the journal's Author Fees policy before authors are expected to incur a charge.
Financial administration and scholarly decision-making are separate functions. Payments, the ability or inability to pay, institutional relationships, or financial contributions do not guarantee favorable review, editorial acceptance, or publication. Any financial arrangements associated with editorial or review services must not be conditioned on reviewer recommendations or manuscript outcomes.
The publisher and editorial leadership share responsibility for ensuring that the journal's publicly available information accurately represents its management, policies, and operations. Appointments and affiliations displayed on the Editorial Team page should be updated when changes are confirmed. Concerns about research integrity, peer review, editorial conduct, or published content are assessed in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidance, with appropriate confidentiality and procedural fairness.
Scholarly inquiries and complaints concerning editorial decisions should be directed through the journal's official editorial contact channels. Operational or administrative inquiries should be directed to the journal office. Where a matter involves a potential conflict of interest, it should be referred to an appropriate non-conflicted individual.
