At the Journal of Educational Management and Strategy (JEMAST), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor, integrity, and quality. Our peer-review process is designed to ensure that the manuscripts we publish meet the criteria of originality, validity, and scholarly significance. To achieve this, JEMAST employs a double-anonymous peer review system, in which both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other, ensuring an unbiased and fair evaluation of all submissions.
Double-Anonymous Peer Review
In the double-anonymous peer review system, neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other’s identities. This approach eliminates potential bias and ensures that manuscripts are judged solely on their academic merit, free from personal or institutional influence.
Review Process Steps
-
Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts via JEMAST’s online submission system. All identifying information is removed from the manuscript to preserve anonymity. -
Initial Check
The editorial team conducts an initial screening to ensure that the manuscript fits the scope of the journal, follows formatting guidelines, and meets the basic quality requirements. Manuscripts failing to meet these standards may be returned to the authors without external review. -
Assignment of Reviewers
Each eligible manuscript is assigned to at least three independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, scholarly record, and absence of conflicts of interest. -
Review Process
-
Reviewer Invitation: Selected reviewers are invited and, upon agreement, gain access to the anonymized manuscript.
-
Evaluation: Reviewers assess the manuscript on originality, methodological rigor, clarity, ethical compliance, and relevance to the field of educational management and strategy. They provide detailed, constructive comments and recommendations.
-
Recommendation: Reviewers recommend one of the following:
-
Accept
-
Minor Revisions
-
Major Revisions
-
Reject
-
-
-
Editorial Decision
The editorial team reviews all comments and recommendations. Based on this feedback, the Editor-in-Chief issues one of the following decisions:-
Accept: The manuscript is accepted without further changes.
-
Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires small changes before acceptance. Authors are given a deadline to submit the revised version.
-
Major Revisions: The manuscript requires substantial revisions. Authors are given a deadline to resubmit, and the revised manuscript may undergo an additional round of review.
-
Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards and will not be published.
-
-
Author Revisions
If revisions are required, authors must address all reviewer comments and resubmit their manuscript within the specified time. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the original reviewers. -
Final Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the revised manuscript and any additional reviewer feedback. The decision is communicated promptly to the authors. -
Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage, including copyediting, formatting, and final proofing, before being published online as open access articles.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts submitted to JEMAST are treated as strictly confidential documents. Reviewers and editorial staff must not disclose or discuss any part of a manuscript outside the peer-review process.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring the quality of published research. They are expected to:
-
Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based feedback.
-
Complete reviews within the specified timeframe.
-
Notify the editor immediately of any conflicts of interest.
