This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak at MTs Ainun Sahab Landi through the implementation of the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) model. Aqidah and Akhlak are essential subjects in Islamic education, focusing on Islamic beliefs and moral values. Traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students in a meaningful way, especially for concepts that require not just cognitive understanding but also the internalization of moral values. In contrast, the TPS model fosters active learning by encouraging individual reflection, paired discussions, and sharing insights with the class, which can lead to deeper understanding and more active participation.
The research was conducted with a group of eighth-grade students at MTs Ainun Sahab Landi in the 2024 academic year. This study followed a cyclic process of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through pre- and post-test assessments, classroom observations, and interviews with students and teachers. The objective was to evaluate how the TPS model could enhance students' comprehension of Aqidah and Akhlak and foster moral development.
The results showed that the TPS model significantly improved students' engagement and understanding of the subject matter. Students demonstrated greater participation during discussions, showed more interest in the material, and applied moral values in group activities. Additionally, the TPS model helped students express their thoughts and ideas clearly, developing both their cognitive and social skills.
In conclusion, the Think-Pair-Share model proves to be an effective teaching strategy for improving students' understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak at MTs Ainun Sahab Landi. This research suggests that TPS can be an ideal approach for engaging students and enhancing moral education in Islamic schools.
