Enhancing Students' Understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak through Cooperative Learning Model at MA Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Kopang

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve students' understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak at MA Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Kopang through the application of the Cooperative Learning model. Aqidah and Akhlak are fundamental subjects in Islamic education, focusing on belief systems and moral values. Traditional teaching methods, often based on lectures and rote memorization, have been found to limit students' active participation and deeper understanding of these concepts. In contrast, the Cooperative Learning model emphasizes collaboration, discussion, and shared problem-solving, which can enhance students' engagement and comprehension.

The research was conducted with a group of students at MA Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Kopang during the 2024 academic year. The study followed a cyclical process of planning, action, observation, and reflection, with data collected from pre- and post-test assessments, classroom observations, and interviews with both students and teachers. The primary objective was to assess how Cooperative Learning could improve students' understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak, as well as foster their moral development.

The results indicated a significant improvement in students' understanding and application of Islamic beliefs and moral values. Students were more engaged in discussions, demonstrated a deeper understanding of the subject matter, and actively participated in group activities. Additionally, the model encouraged teamwork, allowing students to learn from each other and develop stronger interpersonal skills.

In conclusion, the use of the Cooperative Learning model at MA Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Kopang was found to be an effective strategy for enhancing students' understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak. The study suggests that Cooperative Learning should be further integrated into Islamic education to create a more interactive, engaging, and impactful learning environment.
