This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to explore the effectiveness of interactive storytelling in enhancing early childhood language skills at RA Bani Maftuh. Language development is a crucial aspect of early childhood education as it lays the foundation for future learning. However, many students in RA Bani Maftuh face challenges in expressing themselves fluently and confidently in their language skills. Interactive storytelling is introduced as a method to address these challenges, as it actively engages children and encourages language use in a fun and creative way.
This research was conducted in two cycles, involving 20 children in the age range of 4-6 years. In each cycle, the researcher implemented interactive storytelling sessions, where children participated in storytelling activities by acting out parts of the story, answering questions, and engaging in dialogue with peers. The data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers, and language assessment tools. The results show a significant improvement in the children's vocabulary, sentence structure, and communication skills, as well as increased participation and confidence during storytelling sessions.
The findings indicate that interactive storytelling not only enhances language skills but also fosters social-emotional development and creativity in children. By participating in stories, children learn to express themselves, listen actively, and collaborate with others. The research suggests that this method is an effective strategy for improving language proficiency in early childhood classrooms.
