Improving Students' Understanding of Fiqh through the Think-Pair-Share Model at MTsS At-Taufiq

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students' understanding of Fiqh at MTsS At-Taufiq by implementing the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) model. Fiqh, as a critical component of Islamic studies, is often challenging for students due to its complex concepts and application in daily life. Traditional teaching methods, which are often teacher-centered, tend to limit students' active participation and engagement. Therefore, the study seeks to explore how the TPS model can foster better comprehension, critical thinking, and peer interaction in the learning process of Fiqh. The research was conducted in two cycles, involving 8th-grade students at MTsS At-Taufiq. In each cycle, students were introduced to Fiqh topics, followed by the Think-Pair-Share activity, where they first thought individually about the topic, then discussed it in pairs, and finally shared their insights with the entire class. Data were collected through observations, student reflections, and assessments of students' understanding of the subject matter before and after implementing the model. The findings reveal that the Think-Pair-Share model significantly improved students' understanding of Fiqh, as they became more engaged in discussions and better able to apply Fiqh principles in real-life situations. Additionally, students demonstrated improved communication and collaboration skills. The model encouraged deeper thinking and allowed students to clarify and expand their understanding of complex concepts by interacting with their peers. This study highlights the effectiveness of the Think-Pair-Share model in promoting active learning and fostering a collaborative learning environment in the teaching of Fiqh. It suggests that teachers in Islamic education settings can benefit from incorporating this model to improve students' understanding and engagement.
